SOUTH SALT LAKE — Handcuffs wouldn’t stop a wanted suspect from trying to steal a police car in South Salt Lake.
Police say Donald Andrus, 41, sat handcuffed in the back of their squad car, but managed to slide his hands in front of his body and jump into the front seat.
His arresting officer had stepped away.
Another officer got to Andrus and held a Taser to his hip. The officer subdued him, took the squad car out of drive and shut it off.
Earlier, police say Andrus locked himself in a restroom at a 7-Eleven with syringes and drugs.
He was wanted for burglary in Utah, Colorado and Nevada.
