Funeral services held today for man killed in LDS meeting house shooting

FALLON, NV — A member of an LDS ward who was shot and killed during church services last week will be laid to rest today.
Fellow ward members will have a chance to mourn the loss of Charles E. “Bert” Miller in Fallon, Nevada.
Miller’s casket is expected to arrive at the church via firetruck, an homage to his decades of service as a volunteer firefighter.
A public viewing will be held at 9 A.M. Funeral services are set to begin at 10 AM at 450 N. Taylor St. Miller is described as a pillar of the community.
Miller was killed when 48-year-old John O’Connor allegedly opened fire inside the LDS meeting house.
Police say it appears Miller was targeted in the attack but have not said why.

Meanwhile, The Reno Gazette-Journal reports a judge has ordered a mental examination of O’Connor to determine if he’s competent to stand trial for murder.
O’Connor is charged with first-degree murder in Miller’s death.
