PROVO — A Utah woman is facing accusations she obstructed justice in a court case involving her boyfriend.
Police say they heard recorded phone calls between 47-year-old Laura Haycock and her boyfriend, James Covington, where she was asked to wipe his cellphone and delete his Google account.
That phone had been admitted as evidence in a prior case against Covington, and police had instructed Haycock not to lie to them about the investigation or destroy evidence in the case.
According to police reports, Haycock confirmed to another man that she had successfully carried out Covington’s request.
Police took her into custody this week.
