From Iron County Jail

CEDAR CITY — A Wyoming man was arrested late Wednesday after police say he shot out windows at a high school and then confronted homeowners at gunpoint.

Police got a call about 9:15 p.m. from a witness who “reported hearing someone inside the school smashing and breaking things,” Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack said.

The man was gone before officers got there, but surveillance video showed a man with a handgun shooting windows and locks. A short time later, police got a call about a homeowner whose car keys were stolen at gunpoint.

The man then ditched that car, entered another home and took a bottle of orange juice from the fridge, then left, police said.

There were at least four other attempts to enter homes and cars, according to police. Officers from around Iron County responded to help, and found the man in the neighborhood just before midnight.

He is identified as Talon Sessions, 28, of Wyoming. He was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Iron County Jail.

Police say they’re investigating whether Sessions was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. Officers remained canvassing the area for much of the day Thursday, talking to residents who may have been affected, Womack said.

Damage estimates at the high school were not immediately available.
