Tuesday expected to be the busiest travel day of the year

SALT LAKE CITY — A record number of Americans are expected to pass through airport security checkpoints today and a record number of Americans are expected to hit the road next week.
It’s a sign more people are comfortable with their job situation and have disposable income with which to spend. That’s according to Triple A’s Beth Mosher who says the average cost of 3-dollars-15 cents a gallon for gas in Utah isn’t deterring drivers.
Across the United States, 47 million people are expected to drive more than 50-miles away from their homes for the July 4th holiday. That’s up five percent from last year, despite gas prices being 60-cents higher than this same time in 2017.
The average cost of a gallon of gas in Utah sits at $3.15. Nationwide, prices average $2.82 per gallon.
