UTAH COUNTY — Some good news is coming from the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain wildfires. They have had so many donations they don’t need any more for now.
Officials say community members have brought in more than enough supplies and food for evacuees and firefighters.
Update from the Red Cross noting a few problems: 1) Big waiting list…of people that want to HELP and provide shelter for others. 2) TOO MANY donations. Please stop for now. 3) 6,000 people evacuated and no one staying at the shelter.
Well done Utah. Well done.π ππΌππΌππΌ

And not to clutter the Twitter waves, the American Red Cross is saying thanks to the generosity of local citizens they no longer need donations. There is a waiting list of people offering space in their home for evacuees. Thank you all! #PoleCreekFire #BaldMountainFire

Officials say while very appreciative of the outpouring of help, no new donations are being accepted at the present time until further notice. A needs assessment will be performed each day for future needs.
For those who do need something, the Supply Center distributing supplies to evacuees and their host families is located at Nebo School District Advanced Learning Center at 161 E. 400 N., Salem, UT (kitty corner from Chevron) Hours are 8 am – 8 pm September 17th and from noon – 6 pm each day thereafter.
The Pole Creek Fire is about 2 percent contained, and the Bald Mountain Fire is 0 percent contained. Together they have burned around 80,000 acres. We learned Sunday that evacuees who have been displaced by the fires shouldn’t plan on returning home for two weeks or until further notice.
