WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, warns that national power has become so centralized in our nation’s capital, he worries it will lead to violence.

Thursday, the Utah Republican gave a speech, saying Federalism is the answer to the toxicity of politics today.

“Ultimately, this will come down to a binary choice. A simple binary choice. Federalism, or violence,” he said.

Lee says the national political style of good versus evil will only get worse unless the country returns more power to the states.

“We have to devolve the federal programs necessary to once again let Vermont be Vermont, and let Utah be Utah.”

Lee says we are in a continuous national war of winner-take-all, instead of finding more time to discuss issues in our own city halls and state legislatures.

Lee says states need to take back many responsibilities and leave D.C. to focus on national security, immigration, trade and debt.
