Three Utahns including 7-year-old killed in Wyoming crash

EVANSTON, Wyoming — Not wearing seatbelts may have played a major factor in the deaths of three people in a deadly crash just over the state line in Wyoming Wednesday night.
Wyoming Highway Patrol says a minivan may have been overdriving the conditions and going too fast for the snow and ice-covered portion of I-80 when it slammed into the back of a semi-truck and then was hit by another semi-truck just before midnight on Wednesday.
Seven people were in that van. The driver, Marco Carr, 38 and the front seat passenger, Rebecca Nowlin, 28, both from Salt Lake City, died at the scene, along with a 7-year-old whose name was not released.
Troopers say none of the three were wearing seatbelts. The four other children that were in the van were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Neither of the semi drivers were injured.
