Three people are in custody after Cottonwood Heights police pursuit on Thursday

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — Three suspects are under arrest after Cottonwood Heights police answered a fraud-in-progress call around 5 p.m. Thursday at a University Credit Union at 7200 South Highland Drive.  Lt. Dan Bartlett says when an officer got to the location, a male and female in a car outside the bank then pulled away.  The officer followed the two suspects to a dead-end.  Bartlett says one of the suspects then wheeled around, attempting to ram the officer’s cruiser.

“At that point the detective jumped back into the car and went after the suspects, initiating the pursuit, following them out of the neighborhood back on to Highland Dr.  The male driver of the fleeing car went south on Highland Dr. to Creek Road but with rush hour traffic, he was slowed, so he then made a U-turn, went back north on Highland…where another officer was waiting to spike him,” according to Lt. Bartlett.

Bartlett says the pursuit continued down Highland Drive before the suspect ran a red light near the intersection of I-215.  A female in another car was struck by the suspect’s car.  The suspects were transported to the hospital with injuries.  The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.

Bartlett says it was not long after that that the two suspects were taken into custody.  Investigators say the woman in the bank, accused of passing bad checks, was also arrested.  The driver of the car that led police on the pursuit is identified as Adult Probation and Parole fugitive Adalberto Ozeta.  One of the two other females arrested is identified as Alexandra Trujillo.  The female in the car had outstanding fraud-related warrants.  Bartlett says a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
