SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A former U.S. attorney for Utah has been nominated by President Donald Trump to become a federal judge.
The White House announced Wednesday that former state prosecutor David Barlow was nominated to be a federal judge in Utah.
Barlow previously served as general counsel to Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and now works as a lawyer at an international law firm in Salt Lake City. His work focuses on corporate and white-collar investigations.
Former President Barack Obama nominated and the Senate confirmed Barlow as Utah’s U.S. attorney in 2011. He held the job until 2014.
The announcement comes amid a record-setting push from the Trump administration to pack the federal courts with conservative appointments.
