SPANISH FORK — A car went off the road and rolled down an embankment, leaving two men dead, the Utah Highway Patrol says.
The rollover occurred on Friday evening about 30 miles outside Spanish Fork.
Witnesses say a tan Chevy Silverado was moving eastbound in Spanish Fork Canyon at about 8:30 p.m. when it spun out and drove off the road. The cause of the spin is under investigation.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden says both men were ejected from the vehicle.
One of the deceased is an Arizona resident, Roden says. The man, who remains unidentified, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Medical responders airlifted the other man to the hospital but he died en route.
Officials are withholding the names of the two men until their families are notified.
Roden says investigators do not know who was driving the vehicle or if wet roads was a factor.
The rollover occurred about 25 miles from a rain caused a flash flood on U.S. Highway 89. Mud, debris, and areas of deep water forced the closure of U.S. Highway 89.
