PANGUITCH, Utah — Intermountain Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch says 12 people remain in hospitals around Utah following a deadly bus crash outside Bryce Canyon National Park.
Three are in critical condition, one has serious injuries, and eight are in fair condition.
Garfield Memorial Hospital Administrator Alberto Vasquez told reporters on Monday that they prepare for mass casualty events like Friday’s rollover crash, but this was the most serious event they have ever dealt with.
He also said they used translators and some technology to communicate with patients.
“We actually use an online service. We have these specific iPads…We had four onsite, and we got an additional four ready to go in case we needed them,” Vasquez says.
First responders and staff from other area hospitals helped treat the victims.
The bus carrying dozens of Chinese tourists rolled over on State Route 12 in Panguitch on Friday. Four people were killed. Investigators still don’t know the exact cause of the accident.
