LAYTON, Utah — Groundbreaking for a new Layton temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been announced.
The church says that the official groundbreaking will be held on May 30, 2020, and that attendance will be by invitation only.
The 11.8-acre site for the temple was announced in July of 2019 and will be built near the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane near Highway 89.

Church President Russel M. Nelson announced that this, the second temple in Davis County, would be built in the faith’s April 2018 General Conference. Plans call for a 3 story 87,000 square foot building that will serve a “gap” for members of the church that live in the area.
During that conference, in which two more temples in Utah were announced, church president Russell M. Nelson said, “As the Church grows, more temples will be built so that more families can have access to that greatest of all blessings, that of eternal life.”
