WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — Fire departments are rapidly responding to a fire in Washington County Wednesday evening. The fire started at 5:14 p.m. and has yet to be put out by officials.

Officials say the Pecan Fire in Washington County started due to an individual using a welder, which sparked dry grass. The fire quickly spread over an estimated three to five acres of land. It also spread into a local salvaged vehicle yard; 20 vehicles so far are reportedly destroyed.
