SALT LAKE CITY– Organizers from the Utah Business Revival are planning a Blue Rally for Saturday, June 20th to support law enforcement in Utah.

It will be held at 5 pm at 451 South State Street, which is where other protests and rallies have started in recent weeks, including one that turned violent.

“Remember, 21 of our officers were injured in the events of late May. This cannot stand without us showing our utmost gratitude,” said organizer Eric Moutsos in a Facebook video

He says officers have been working under a lot of stress and facing disdain and threats.

Moutsos is a small business owner and founded Utah Business Revival. He’d like people who go to the rally to pick up something to eat locally or show other support to a local business.

The group has held other events to support small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, including the Collin Raye concert that took place Saturday evening in Iron County.

UPDATE: Tooele Co. Health Dept. hasn’t approved Collin Raye concert

Moutsos is also a former police officer and has been watching the events and conversations of the past few weeks.

“We are a morally bankrupt society and we need law and order. All people need to come to the table and talk about these problems, including law enforcement,” he said.

He is inviting police chiefs and sheriffs from around Utah to attend Saturday’s rally. He hopes that Salt Lake leadership especially will go.

“We hope that Chief Brown, along with Mayor Mendenhall, will join us in support of these brave men and women in law enforcement,” he said.

Moutsos suggests participates wear blue attire to show their support for law enforcement nationwide.
