TOOELE — Residents living south of Vine Street and east of Mainstreet in Tooele have been issued a “do not drink” advisory due to a reported break into the Tooele City’s water storage tank on Saturday.
The city is working to flush and clean the tank and collect samples.
The contamination risk is currently unknown but residents in the area are encouraged to use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice.
For those who are unable to purchase their own bottled water while the do not drink advisory is in effect, some will be available at Tooele City Police Department at 50 N Garden Street (one case per household).
Tooele City is unaware of any symptoms but has advised residents that may be experiencing symptoms to seek medical advice.
This is a developing story.
