Half of Utahns say out-of-state travelers should be banned

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A new survey shows roughly half of all Utahns believe out-of-state travelers should be banned from crossing state lines if they come from a place dealing with high COVID-19 numbers.
Additionally, about 55% of Utahns say domestic travelers coming back from out-of-state trips should be forced to quarantine for 14 days, according to the study conducted by MyBioSource.com.
Some states — like New York and New Jersey — already implement these guidelines and have banned travelers from certain states with higher COVID rates.
The company polled Americans across the country, finding nearly half of the U.S. reporting they will look to travel locally amid the pandemic to limit exposure. In fact, 40% of Americans say they don’t believe they’ll see their family on Thanksgiving because of social distancing restrictions.
Another 38% don’t expect to see their families on Christmas either.
On the other hand, some Americans believe the pandemic will increase local tourism. As a result, 18% say travel within state borders will help with local economies.
