MILLCREEK, Utah – Unified Police reported a glass door at the Utah Department of Health office in Millcreek was shot out with a pellet gun overnight Thursday.
The damage was found Friday morning by some Department of Health staff members. Department spokeswoman Jenny Johnson said the vandalism was a surprise.
“We didn’t have any threats made [against us] or anything like that,” Johnson said. “So, we’re not sure what the intent behind it is.”
Whoever did it left no signs of entry and they didn’t take anything either — so Johnson said it doesn’t look like a robbery.
“It doesn’t appear that anyone got in, nothing appears to be missing,” she said. “As far as we know, no employees were there when it happened.”
Most employees have been working from home since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
The door that was shot out is a public entrance, but it’s mostly used by EMTs who get fingerprinted at the office.
Right now, Unified Police are investigating it as an act of vandalism.
Police are also asking the public to come forward if they know anything because officers do not have a suspect description or a motive.
