SALT LAKE CITY — It’s going to be a tough holiday weekend for many Utah boaters. The drought has affected several lakes and reservoirs around Utah. With those low water levels come restrictions or closures to many boat ramps.

Several boat ramps at Lake Powell have already been closed and owners of houseboats have been told to remove them by Saturday from the Wahweap Main site.

Some of the boat ramps are also closed in the Utah State Parks system. Those closures include Willard Bay, Millsite Reservoir, Antelope Island, Echo, Piute, Yuba and Pineview.

Rockport State park says their water levels are so low, they can no longer rent out boats. But cabins, paddleboards and kayaks are still available.

A state parks spokesman told the Deseret News if you want to go boating around Pioneer Day, you’ll want to check that park’s website and social media for the lake or park you are going to and check the conditions before you go, every time you go.

He says they don’t want anyone to show up with their boat and be surprised.
