SALT LAKE CITY — Breathing outside could be hazardous for many people along the Wasatch Front. Utahns are waking up coughing and with itchy eyes and our bad air could be to blame.

Air quality sensors show a majority of neighborhoods from Springville to Brigham City are unhealthy for sensitive groups.  With around a quarter of those unhealthy for everyone.

The smoke moved in Saturday morning and is expected to stick around through Tuesday night.  A high-pressure system centered over Northern California is pushing smoke from the wildfires in Oregon, Nevada and California into northern Utah.

KSL TV 5 meteorologist Kristen Van Dyke says the high will move offshore tomorrow evening as a low-pressure system moves into southern Utah.  That will not only produce winds to move the smoke to our north, but she says it will also bring a good chance for thunderstorms for the entire Beehive State Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, doctors say doing any physical activity outside could be hazardous to your health.  They say to remain indoors as much as possible and limit your time outdoors.
