FARMINGTON, Utah — A car crash on southbound I-15 near milepost 324 in Farmington closed that portion of the highway Sunday evening.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash resulted in one fatality. Sgt. Roden, of the UHP, said one adult was killed in the crash, while a child was injured. That portion of the highway remains closed as authorities investigate.
The UHP said traffic was diverted onto Legacy Parkway, and I-15 is expected to reopen by 9 p.m. Sunday evening.
Authorities also confirm that UDOT was assisting a motorist change a tire on the side of the road. Another vehicle struck the UDOT incident management truck causing the accident.
John Gleason, with UDOT, says the UDOT worker had just gotten back into his truck to fill out paper work when he was struck from behind. Gleason says the UDOT worker was transported to an area hospital, and will be physically OK.
This is a developing story. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
