SALT LAKE CITY — South Salt Lake Police are investigating a dispute that turned into an assault over a parking spot on Sunday.
According to police, Brandon Jay Barker was arrested for investigation of assault, unlawful detention, interference with an arresting officer and criminal mischief.
The victim told police the incident began when Barker got upset at how she had parked in a lot behind her mother-in-law’s car at an apartment complex, located at 292 East New Century Lane in South Salt Lake.
The victim acknowledged she wasn’t in a parking spot. However, she says she wasn’t blocking anyone else. That’s when Barker got out of his own vehicle and started hitting her vehicle. Barker was able to get the window down and began allegedly assaulting the victim.
As the victim attempted to leave, the suspect ran in front of the car preventing her from leaving the parking lot.
As police arrived, Barker allegedly resisted arrest and fed the scene. Eventually, officers took him into custody and took him to jail.
