SALT LAKE CITY — Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) are co-sponsoring a bill that would make those expecting a child eligible for the Child Tax Credit.
It’s called the “Child Tax Credit for Pregnant Moms Act” and is being co-sponsored by several Republican lawmakers.
Pregnant women would be eligible for a credit, up to $2,000 during any stage of the pregnancy.
And the woman would still get the money if they had a miscarriage or stillbirth. They wouldn’t be eligible if they had an abortion.
Lee thinks this bill would reduce the number of children born into poverty.
This bill failed in 20-19 and 20-18.
