SALT LAKE CITY — For the first time in five years U.S. animal shelters are seeing a decline in the number of animals saved, said the Best Friends Animal Society website. And that’s one of the reasons that the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Sugar House is waiving adoption fees on all pets during National Adoption Weekend July 22-24, 2022.
🤩Bouncer (A813965) wants to remind you that ADOPTION FEES ARE WAIVED THIS WEEKEND (July 22-24) for #NationalAdoptionWeekend thanks to @bestfriends. Visit him and all of our adoptable dogs noon-5pm at 3839 Bradshaw Rd, no appointment necessary. Bouncer: https://t.co/1UnnWotAzR pic.twitter.com/wHp3rxlEgY

The shelter said it has spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated all the animals that are available for adoption.
Aside from the shelter in Sugar House, 23 other partner shelters and rescue programs in Utah will participate in National Adoption weekend. Each of them will offer differing promotions.
For example, Salt Lake County Animal Services is offering $5 adoption fees according to a Best Friends press release.
