SALT LAKE CITY — As the inches of snow accumulate, emergencies may become a reality for Utahns. A combination of tools and resources could be a lifesaver.
Wade Mathews, with the
Utah Division of Emergency Management, said that a preparedness mindset is the best prevention for danger. Starting your excursion with a charged cell phone and dressing in warm clothes will go a long way.
Today, and throughout the winter, drivers are encouraged to be equipped with emergency kits.
Mathews said items like blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, boots, shovels and hand warmers are just the start of what could prove vital in an emergency.
Additionally, if one finds themself stranded food and water to keep the body warm, cat litter, safety signals, snow chains, jumper cables and flashlights are also important tools to have.
