MORGAN COUNTY, Utah — A hit-and-run collision between a snowplow and a semi late Friday night sent one person to the hospital, according to emergency officials in Morgan County.

According to a Facebook posting by Morgan County Fire, the incident occurred just before midnight. It happened on Highway 84 at milepost 106.

The semi was traveling eastbound on Highway 84 when it tried to pass the snowplow on the right. The snowplow, belonging to the Utah Department of Transportation, was struck by the semi on the wing.

Semi, snowplow collision

The collision forced the driver of the snowplow to lose control. It hit the cable barrier and then came to a rest on the driver’s side, according to the posting.

The driver of the semi did not stop. As of Saturday afternoon, the Utah Highway Patrol has not located the semi.

The driver of the snowplow had to be extricated and was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

According to the posting, one of the biggest concerns of a snowplow driver is being crowded or passed unsafely by other motorists.

Morgan County officials say never pass on the shoulder. Motorists also should give snowplows all the room they need and travel according to the road conditions.
