SALT LAKE CITY — On Monday, Gov. Spencer Cox ordered that all U.S. and Utah flags be lowered in remembrance of the victims of the Monterey Park, California mass shooting. Flags will be lowered immediately and flown at half-staff until Thursday night.
The order comes two days after the shooting, where a gunman killed 10 people during a celebration of the Lunar New Year.
In a Tweet Sunday, Cox said stated his support for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
We mourn with the Asian American community and all those affected by the terrible tragedy in Monterey Park, CA. As the investigation of this heinous crime continues, we pray for the victims and send the support of all Utahns.

Along with his order, Cox encouraged Utahns to lower their flags as well.
President Joe Biden made the same order on Sunday for all flags at the White House and at other federal buildings.
