Boy dies after falling from slide at Rose Springs Elementary School

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — A third grader has died after falling off a slide at Rose Springs Elementary School on Monday.
Tooele School District Communications Director Brett Valdez confirmed that the boy involved in the accident had died.
The 8-year-old was injured and hospitalized Monday morning after falling from a twisty slide.
The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office said the boy went unconscious and stopped breathing after falling. Playground monitors gave the boy life-saving measures and he started breathing again. He was hospitalized soon after.
The family requested that the boy’s name not be released yet, Valdez said.
Valdez also offered the following statement about the death:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the student’s passing following the accident on the playground at Rose Springs Elementary. Our hearts go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. The family has requested to please give them time before calling or sending messages. We have counselors available for students, faculty, and staff who need someone to talk to.”
