SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority said the storm is impacting its trains, with many seeing an hour-long delay this morning.
UTA Spokesperson Carl Arky said delays can build up due to safety measures.
“The delays will come a lot of times because of snow in the doorway on a FrontRunner train. That has to be brushed out and cleared off so the doors can close. Those are FTA regulations.”
But, despite slowdowns, Arky still recommends Utahns utilize public transit.
“The beauty of traveling by train is, yeah there may be some delays, but at least you’re not in your car. You’re not stuck in traffic there.”
And on days like today, Arky said public transit is likely to be quicker than driving.
The UTA provides real-time updates on delays on their Twitter feed and service alerts.
