Tremonton, Utah prepares for possible flooding

TREMONTON, Utah– Over the weekend, residents in Tremonton, Utah prepared for potential flooding by filling sandbags.
Due to the city’s history of flooding and recent snowfall, there is cause for concern.
Tremonton Mayor, Lyle Holmgren, acknowledged the potential threat, stating, “it’s a concern again this year.”
For the past eight months, the city has been clearing drains and ensuring they are open and functioning correctly.
Trees and roots underground have obstructed many of the storm drains in Tremonton, despite not being visible from above.
To address the issue of obstruction, Tremonton has constructed additional retention basins in recent years. These basins provide a designated area for fast-moving water, diverting it from homes and reducing the risk of flooding.
