SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement Thursday morning announcing that Elder Jeffrey R. Holland is being excused from his duties for at least two months because of his health. The announcement comes after Elder Holland was excused from General Conference last week.

According to the church, Elder Holland and his wife, Sister Patricia Holland, are ill with COVID.

Elder Holland also recently started dialysis to treat to a kidney condition, the church said.

Due to his health, Elder Holland will take at least two months to focus on his recovery.
