Fatal head-on crash closes US-6 in both directions at Red Narrows

SALT LAKE CITY — Both directions of US-6 are closed at milepost 191 (Red Narrows) in Spanish Fork Canyon after a fatal head-on crash. The crash site is about six miles east of Thistle.


 

UDOT said it expects major delays and asks drivers to consider using an alternate route.

UHP Sgt. Cam Roden said their initial investigation found that a westbound passenger car crossed into the eastbound lanes of US-6 and hit a pickup truck,head on. Roden said the driver of the westbound vehicle died on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted.

At 4:05 p.m., both directions of the highway remained closed. Officials are working to clear the westbound lanes.
