Cyclist in critical condition after accident involving SUV in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — A 45-year-old biker is in critical condition after colliding with an SUV at the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and Guardsman Way on Thursday.

The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Crash Analysis Reconstruction team is investigating what happened at the intersection.

SLCPD Sgt. Mark Wian said the team came because the man’s injuries were so severe.

Wian told KSL NewsRadio that police believe the driver of the SUV turned left in front of the bicyclist and hit him.

 The driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
