SALT LAKE CITY — A 34-year-old man is in critical condition after falling on a hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Arlan Bennett with Unified Police Department said they got a call before 9 this morning about a man that had fallen near Lake Blanche.

He said the man was hiking when a rock shifted and he fell 100 feet. Police coordinated with the Department of Public Safety to locate him and flew the man to Intermountain Medical Center in very serious condition.

Bennett said the man is alive at this time.
