CEDAR CITY, UTAH — Cedar Breaks National Monument is teaming up with Zion National Park to offer an exciting, and educational opportunity to visitors.

Cedar Breaks National Monument is a beautiful 1 mile deep geologic red-rock amphitheater that reaches 10,000 feet into the sky.

The Monument was established by U.S. president President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 in an effort to preserve the amphitheater.

What is at the Jamboree?

The national monument will host a paleontologist to teach visitors about the fossils that have been found in the Cedar Breaks region.

In addition to learning about the rocks and fossils, guests of all ages can even participate by learning how to and identifying different types of rocks and minerals.

Ranger-led Geology walks will also be held. These walks will focus on the different layers and formations within the monument. Likewise, this will give valuable insights into the area’s geology.

There will be a temporary information center, allowing visitors to come in and see many exhibits. These exhibits will showcase the changes that the area has had over time.

And rock formations “I Spy” will allow guests to search for different rock formations and fill out a sheet to win a prize.

During the Geology Jamboree, there will be a lot of fun.

The Jamboree will be held August 5th-6th.

Additionally, more information can be found at the Cedar Breaks National Monument website
