The Salt Lake City Fire Department was able to put out the fire. SLCFD Division Chief Dan Walker says the flames were extinguished “quite quickly.”
According to a press release, all three occupants of the car died on the scene. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the incident.
Preliminary investigation shows that speed may be a contributing factor in the crash, SLCPD said.
