LEHI, Utah — A portable, outdoor ice rink will be the new “cool” feature at Lehi City’s sports park, after a unanimous vote by the Lehi City Council.
Parks Director Steve Marchbanks explains why they’ve decided on the new addition.
“We’re trying to utilize our parks after the season’s over, and make something fun out of it,” he said.
Despite the rink being about a quarter of the size of a regular ice rink, Marchbanks said it’s the real deal.
“It’s the full package,” he said. “It will have the ice skates, it will have the ice … We will have to do the bleachers and the sound system and the lighting … It’s got the matting to put your skates on It’s pretty nice.”
The ice rink will require entrance fees, and visitors will be able to rent skates at the Lehi sports park.
Lehi City plans to open the rink Nov. 24 through Feb. 1.
