HEBER CITY, Utah — A 14-year-old male riding a bicycle was hit while in a crosswalk on Thursday morning at the intersection of 500 East and 1200 South in Heber City.
The teen was crossing from south to north in the crosswalk on his way to school when he was hit, according to Heber City police.
Police said the lights of the crosswalk were indicated when the child was hit. He was crossing five lanes of traffic.
The van was moving eastbound on 1200 South and did not yield to the caution lights police said.
The teen was taken by ambulance to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition. At the time of publication, he remained in critical but stable condition.
The driver stopped and was cooperative with police, who said he was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a school crosswalk.
