One struck and killed on I-80 in Tooele County

KNOLLS, Utah — One person was killed Saturday morning after they were hit by a vehicle on the side of I-80 in Tooele County.
Utah Highway Patrol said at around 9:09 a.m. the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter van hauling a trailer pulled to the right shoulder of eastbound I-80 east of Knolls. The driver was outside their van when a Hyundai Elantra hit the trailer and then the driver of the Sprinter van.
The trailer that was struck by a car that then killed the driver of the van in collision on I-80.
UHP said the driver of the van died after the Elantra hit him. There were no other injuries in the crash.
Eastbound traffic on I-80 near the crash was closed for the investigation. UHP said traffic was able to get by around 10:30 Saturday morning.
