SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz and the Will Dance for Kids Project are partnering with Chick-fil-A to supply the Utah Food Bank’s Kids Cafe and Mobile School Pantry with jars of peanut butter.
Jazz fans who donate a 16-ounce jar of peanut butter at the game on Nov. 2 will receive a free Chick-fil-A food card. A ticket is required for eligibility. The card is redeemable at any local Chick-fil-A besides the Delta Center location, said a release from the Utah Jazz.
The donation barrel will be located inside the arena’s entrances. Representatives from the Will Dance for Kids Project will be at the barrels to help collect donations.
The Will Dance for Kids Project raises funds to fight childhood hunger and since its founding in 2011, the project has donated over 64,000 jars and $500,000 to the Utah Food Bank.
According to the Utah Food Bank webpage, the Kid’s Cafe aims to provide nutritious food during after-school hours for children who rely on free or reduced-price meals. Last year, the Kid’s Cafe served over 477,000 meals at after-school programs as part of an effort to ensure no child goes to bed hungry.
Another program with the Utah Food Bank, the Mobile School Pantry, hands out food monthly to children and families at 67 local schools. The program recognizes that protecting children from hunger is truly effective when the entire family has enough food, its webpage states.
