Ambulance crash in Logan, car crash in Salt Lake, tie up commute

SALT LAKE CITY — A couple of serious accidents, including an ambulance crash in Logan, had emergency crews scrambling and commuters waiting to get home on Wednesday afternoon.
In Logan, a vehicle hit an ambulance at the intersection of 400 North and 600 East. Officials said the ambulance was responding to an emergency call when it was hit.
Three people in the ambulance were transported to a nearby hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
“The [ambulance was] passing a vehicle in the turn lane on the left when the vehicle turned in front of them,” Sgt. Cam Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol told KSL NewsRadio.
There were no reported injuries in the other vehicle.
The crash blocked one eastbound lane, causing some traffic disruptions.
Salt Lake City crash required extrication
Also on Wednesday afternoon, a two-car accident blocked the right lane of eastbound I-80 at 3600 West.
A UHP official said crews had to use extrication equipment to free one person in this crash.
Sgt. Cam Roden also said an adult woman was in serious condition and at least one other person had minor injuries.
