AMERICAN FORK, Utah — One person is dead following a car accident on I-15 at the 500 East exit in American Fork.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a passenger car crashed into a barrier on the right side of southbound I-15. For unknown reasons, the driver of the crashed vehicle got out and walked in front of traffic.
He was hit and sustained fatal injuries, Sgt. Cameron Roden with UHP told KSL NewsRadio.
Roden said a second car was involved. There were no injuries to that driver and they left the scene.
However, UHP has located the driver and is talking to them about the incident.
All southbound lanes except the HOV are closed in American Fork. UHP said they could be closed for another one to two hours.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
