EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — A 10-year-old boy is in the hospital with serious injuries following an auto-pedestrian crash Tuesday afternoon.
Sgt. Garrett Dutson with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office told KSL Newsradio the 10-year-old was with a group of other boys on the corner of Pony Express Parkway and Porters Crossing around 2:10 p.m.
Dutson said the boy stumbled or fell into the road as a car was turning onto Pony Express Parkway. According to authorities, the boy sustained serious head trauma.
He was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. As of Wednesday morning, there were no updates on the boy’s condition.
Dutson said several witnesses came to the boy’s aid and called 911 at the time of the crash. He also said the driver of the car that hit him stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. Dutson said there were no signs of impairment in the driver and called the incident “a tragic accident.”
Authorities are once again calling on all drivers to slow down and to be vigilant on the roads, especially around kids.
