SALT LAKE CITY — 2024 is fast approaching and New Year’s Eve celebrations will be hosted across the Beehive State this Sunday.

The Gateway in Salt Lake City will host Last Hurrah. According to a press release, it is Utah’s largest free New Year’s Eve event. It is open to all ages.

Last Hurrah begins at 8 p.m. The event will offer live performances with Blindlove and Cardinal Bloom headlining the event. Both bands are Utah-based alternative rock bands.

“Gateway merchants will also be open late during the event for food and fun!” according to the event website. Additionally, alcoholic beverages and hot cocoa will be available for purchase at pop-up bars.

The celebration will wrap up at midnight with a fireworks display, according to the press release.

New Year’s Eve on the slopes

Several Utah ski resorts will also ring in the new year with slopeside events.

At 4:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Solitude Mountain Resort will present a magic show followed by a lasagne dinner. According to the resort’s website, the event will take place at Last Chance Lodge.

Slightly later in the day, Snowbird will present a New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade. Snowbird’s event website invites guests to “Welcome 2024 alongside family and friends on the Plaza Deck for the Torchlight Parade and fireworks.”

The parade and fireworks will begin at 6 p.m. Following the event, fire pits will be burning from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the resort.

Beginning at 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve afternoon, Park City Mountain Resort will be presenting live music. According to the resort’s website, complimentary hot cocoa and cookies will be available while supplies last. The event will culminate with a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m.

Brian Head Ski Resort will also be providing festivities. According to a press release, the resort will be offering night skiing, live music, a torchlight parade, and fireworks.

Brian Head’s event will begin at 4 p.m. with the opening of night skiing. At 6:30 p.m., ski patrollers will participate in a torchlight parade. The parade will be followed by a fireworks display outside of the Giant Steps Lodge at 7 p.m.

Finally, beginning at 8 p.m., Muddy Boots will perform at Last Chair Grill & Brews.

Events for those who don’t like the cold

If you aren’t a fan of the cold, there are indoor celebrations, too.

The Leonardo will be hosting a 21+ event dubbed the Glitter and Gold New Year’s Eve Gala. According to the event website, guests are invited to “indulge in a glamorous evening of deliciously catered cuisine, a live DJ, and festivities.”

Additionally, The Leonardo’s website said guests will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet and explore the museum. At midnight, there will be a “complimentary champagne toast” and a “dazzling confetti drop.”

For those who aren’t quite 21 yet, there will be an 18+ event at the Mountain America Exposition Center. Ball Drop 2024 will feature dancing, a laser show, and a balloon drop, according to the event’s website.

If you decide to venture out this New Year’s Eve, Utah Highway Patrol has reminded citizens not to drive under the influence. For those planning to consume alcohol, make sure you’ve got a sober ride home
