SALT LAKE CITY — Weeks before Pride Month starts up, Spy Hop is celebrating love in all of its forms with Queer Prom.
Associate Director for Spy Hop, Larissa Trout said this will be Spy Hop’s second annual Queer Prom. She said it’s a fun way for youth to celebrate their friends and what they care about.
“Well, it really is for our youth … It is a prom that is centering them and what they care about and what they love and for their friends,” she said.
Trout also said the prom is important for youth within the community.
“It is just a few weeks before the start of June, which is Pride Month,” she said. “It’s our way of giving a space for young people to celebrate love in all of its forms.”
Queer Prom gives space for youth to be their “true selves,” according to Trout.
The event is for all LGBTQ+ youth and allies between 14 and 19 years old.
“It’s a safe space for young people to come together and celebrate, dance (and) have a good time at Queer Prom,” Trout said.
It will be hosted at the Spy Hop Rooftop. There will be a DJ and food.
The prom is free to attend but all youth need to RSVP on Spy Hop’s Website before the event.
