SOUTH SALT LAKE — A police officer was injured and hospitalized after being hit by a suspect’s car Friday, according to Unified Police Department.
Another police officer and the suspect, who ran into the previously mentioned officer, were also injured.
During a press conference, Unified police officer Quin Wilkins said at around 5:40 p.m., officers were attempting to arrest a federal fugitive, Tyson Yellowbear, at 249 East Helm Avenue.
Yellowbear reportedly attempted to flee and hit a Unified police officer who was outside his patrol car. Another Unified police officer then ran into Yellowbear’s pickup to stop him in his path.
Wilkins said both officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Yellowbear was taken into custody and also transferred to the hospital.
This situation is now being investigated by Unified and South Salt Lake Police Departments.
