ATLANTA, Georgia — The first debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump is just one week out.

The debate takes place at the CNN studios in Atlanta, Georgia. According to CNN, this is the first ever debate between a sitting president and a former president.

ABC reports the Biden team won the coin toss giving President Biden the choice of podium position during the event. However, former President Trump will get the last word.

The debate takes place on June 27 at 7 p.m. and is slated to last 90 minutes.

Presidential debate rules

This debate will have no opening statements by the candidates. Additionally, CNN announced a list of debate rules.

There will be no audience in the CNN studio during the debate. Additionally, mics will be muted unless the candidate is actively speaking. Candidates will be allowed only a pen, paper and a bottle of water during the debate.

The president and former president will debate again in September. The second debate will be hosted by ABC.

Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. couldn’t meet the  polling requirements to earn a spot on the debate stage.

University of Utah announced in May that the presidential debate that was scheduled in Utah had fallen through.
