8:32 p.m. MDT — Not even a half hour after the polls closed in Utah, the Associated Press is calling John Curtis the GOP nominee to run for the U.S. Senate. And they have called the GOP primary race for Utah governor for Gov. Spencer Cox.

Derek Brown was leading Rachel Terry in the GOP primary race to run for Utah Attorney General.

More initial primary results as cited by the Utah Election Results webpage have Rep. Blake Moore ahead of Paul Miller, with 72.58% of the votes.

Rep. Celeste Maloy is leading Colby Jenkins in the GOP primary runup for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District.

8:08 p.m. MDT — Utah polls closed at 8 p.m. MDT, and results are beginning to trickle in to KSL Newsradio.  Very early results according to Election Results Utah dot gov show John Curtis in the lead:

Very early results have the incumbent Utah governor, Spencer Cox leading slightly.

And in the Republican primary race to fill the seat of the Utah Attorney General, Derek Brown is slightly ahead.

More early results are available here.

7:35 p.m. MDT — In news out of Colorado, the Associated Press reports that “U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has won the Republican primary for a U.S. House seat race that she jumped into last year.”

The Utah Director of Elections says that, at least so far and as far as he knows, it’s been a smooth primary election day in Utah.  Here’s the complete interview:

Utah voters are narrowing the fields of GOP candidates running for Utah governor, U.S. Senator, Utah Attorney General, and multiple other state offices.

According to KSL TV reporter Lindsay Aerts, we could see the first results from Salt Lake County just as the polls close at 8 p.m.

Those registered voters who voted by mail had to have their ballot postmarked by yesterday, June 24, 2024.  But in-person balloting, as well as ballot drop boxes were available on Tuesday for those who did not vote by mail in Utah.

Others visit their neighborhood libraries and schools, and drop their ballot in a drop box or vote in person.

Earlier on Tuesday, KSL NewsRadio spoke with  Davis County Clerk Brian McKenzie about how the day was shaping up.

KSL NewsRadio will provide special programming tonight to help inform Utahns about the election.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., tune in for live discussions with the Utah director of elections, the director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics, county clerks and others.

We’ll also have updates from KSL NewsRadio reporters who are broadcasting live from candidate and party headquarters.
