OGDEN, Utah — A brush fire in the area of I-15 and 21st street in Ogden prompted a large response, with plumes seen on traffic cameras reaching high into the Ogden skyline.
David Reed with the Weber Fire District said they received a report of the fire at 5:49 p.m. At that time it was two acres, but grew to 10 acres before they were able to put it out.
The fire was determined to be human caused, reportedly from a community encampment at the location of the fire.
One person, who was part of the encampment, was reportedly burned, but there were no other injuries.
Since there was no water supply in the area, Hillfield Fire supplied a tanker. The Ogden Fire Department and Weber Fire District stopped the fire before it spread to structures.
Power outage
Rocky Mountain Power said on their website that they turned off power in the area due to the fire, but it has since been restored.
