SALT LAKE CITY — The end of the Utah primary means another election is coming up fast and energy independence is on Republican’s minds. But Salt Lake County Republicans say they’re ready for November.
Many Republicans in attendance at the primary night watch party for congresswoman Celeste Maloy felt not just optimistic, but confident about the party’s candidates heading into the general election this fall.
Looking ahead to energy independence in 2025
Salt Lake County Republican Party Chair, Chris Null said he sees the most important issue our congressional delegation will face in 2025 will be energy independence.
“Bring back our energy independence. I think that’s number one. … Utah has all kinds of energy resources here that we could be using, we should be using. There’s no reason we shouldn’t,” said Null.
Americans as a whole are very split on energy policy. A Pew Research Center survey last June found most Republicans favor keeping fossil fuels in the mix along with renewable energy.
Most Democrats favored ditching fossil fuels. Though opinions vary on how fast to do so.
